THIS 90-DAY WORKSHOP WILL LEAVE YOU WITH A FINISHED SCREENPLAY!
Since it's a teleseminar, you can take it from ANYWHERE!

PLUS:
Screenwriter Interviews with Special Guests:
Benjamin van der Veen
(Che: Guerilla) speaking on "The Outline"
Allison Burnett (Fame, Feast of Love) speaking on "The First Draft"
Donna Powers (The Italian Job) speaking on "The Rewrite"

27 TELECONFERENCE CLASSES OVER 90 DAYS:
March 23rd – June 20th, 2010
Tuesdays: 12pm – 1:30pm (PST)
Fridays 12pm – 12:50pm (PST)

"Al Watt is a traditionalist, a wizard, a jester, a therapist, a drill sergeant, and a high priest.  He understands the primacy of structure, but never loses sight of the power of the imagination and the unconscious mind.   He will speak to both hemispheres of your brain, instilling the hard rules of craft while coaxing your muse out of hiding.  And the best part of all?  After 90 days, no matter what, you will have a finished screenplay."
-- Allison Burnett (screenwriter of Fame, Untraceable, and Resurrecting the Champ)

When the screenwriter has a sense of the story that lives within and a direction for where it wants to go, the writing process springs to life. This workshop is designed for the serious-minded screenwriter who is willing to commit to writing two hours a day.

In each class Al works one-on-one with a number of students in order to illustrate the principles discussed.  Every class is recorded and can be listened to as often as you like for up to 30 days.

HOW IT WORKS:

The 90-Day Screenplay is an intensive 27-class tele-course where you will receive all the practical tools you'll need to complete your screenplay, from initial idea, through outline, first draft, and rewrite.  Each class begins with a lecture, followed by a series of stream-of-consciousness writing exercises and discussion.  You will receive specific homework at the end of each class as well as an emailed summary of the points covered.

TOPICS COVERED WILL INCLUDE:

* 3-Act Structure as an intuitive model
* Clarifying the logline
*The secret to writing constructive outlines (stream-of-consciousness writing exercises + proven techniques that allow the story to emerge)
* Exploring the "universal dilemma" (dramatic question) at the heart of the story
* Using your fears as an ally (you are uniquely qualified to writer your script)
* Writing from a place of jeopardy
* Developing memorable characters
* Writing compelling movie dialogue
* The secrets to writing great description
* Subtext
* Secrets to writing driving narrative

* Clarifying the need
* The rules of screenplay format
* Writing the first draft

* Protagonists and Antagonists (clue: they want exactly the same thing!)
* Showing, not telling

--Peggy Rajski (Producer of Little Man Tate and The Grifters)
